Grund was a warm and cozy respite from cold and extremely windy weather. The apartment was in a fantastic location in town - a short walk from the one small grocery store, a restaurant, and a waterfall. It was also an easy drive to all the amazing sights in the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. The kitchen and bathroom were recently updated. The kitchen has all you might need to cook - including an ample supply of spices and oils to use. All in all this was an amazing place to stay for our first two nights in Iceland.

This family run guesthouse sits scenically on the Snæfellsnes peninsula on Iceland’s western coast, and features views of the surrounding nature from all rooms, as well as free Wi-Fi. Without realizing it while booking we ended up in 'the fancy room' (according to the staff, but we agree). Very nice view of the coast and the glacier. Top breakfast and top buffet-style dinner (for a correct price). All home-cooked with local ingredients, which we really appreciated (some of the best food we had in Iceland). We saw the chef cleaning and filleting (big!) fish in front of the hotel, which was quite an experience. Very warmly recommended! p.s. The Snaefellsnes peninsula is so beautiful. It was definitely one of the highlights of our tour of Iceland, not to be missed!

Set in the quiet countryside of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, this family-run guest house is 45 minutes’ drive from Stykkishólmur town centre. Kast Guesthouse is a good place to stop for an overnight between scenic locations. They have a small eating place where breakfast and dinner is served. Dinner was limited to 3 options but it was fantastic options. Breakfast selection was also very good.

Adventure Hotel Hellissandur in Hellissandur features 3-star accommodation with a terrace, a restaurant and a bar. Guests can have a drink at the snack bar. We were welcomed by the lovely hotel receptionist Anna, who had such a great positive energy and so kind to also give us extra tips for our travels! In the Peninsula area, it is hard to find a good place to eat, much less to find places open past 6pm, thankfully you got a really good restaurant (Sker Restaurant) only 10 minutes away from the hotel:) Let's talk about the most important meal of the day, BREAKFAST! 10/10. They had all what a breakfast for champions needs: Eggs, Sausage, different sorts of Icelandic yougurt(Skyr), Fruits, Juices, Coffee, and much more;) And you can easily watch the northern lights from the comfort of your room, but if you wanna get even a better view, you just need to drive a couple minutes out Hellissandur (away from the street lights). Located in the country side, Hotel Stundarfridur offers accommodation 12 km from Stykkishólmur. This property provides guests with a terrace. There is also a restaurant and a shared lounge. We liked everything during our stay! The guesthouse is located in a very beautiful place, and we could observe it while eating breakfast in a spacious hall with big windows :) Everything was super clean, the interiors are very cosy and designed thoughtfully. The hostess that greeted us was really kind and nice :) Worth to mention that it is one of few places that accepts travellers with pets, while the price is still affordable. Thank you for everything, it was a super cosy place where we would gladly stay again!

Found 23 km east of Snæfellsnes National Park, this hotel offers bright, modern rooms with private bathrooms. WiFi and parking are free. Snæfellsjökull Volcano is within 20 minutes’ drive. The location is awesome right by the ocean and mountains The Black Church is also in walking distance. The building was very comfortable and the dinners were great. The breakfast was good.
