This hotel is a paradise on earth - both hotel and sea are beautiful. The pool is deep and refreshing, the food is amazing in the restaurant - I would recommend Prawn Curry. :) Hotel management is very helpful and helped us with transfers and other questions. Kudos to Anna - she made us feel welcome and pampered. Pingwe beach is gem - it is beautiful both high and low tide - and you can swim here also in low tide - just walk to white sand lagoons and enjoy crystal clear sand. When I would return to Zanzibar - this hotel would be the place to return.

Small, tranquillo, individual, clean, and friendly atmosphere. Waiters knew our names after arrival, the beach is beautiful white sand but tide-dependent. Free Wi-Fi is good, no TVs (which is refreshing). Nice idea to have dinner in different venues – restaurant at the beach, near the kitchen, at the beach on different days. Quality of food is good, prices are very reasonable. Bar with the best view for sundowner. Free paddle boards and one-person kayaks to rent. Mosquito nets over the bed. Nice balconies in each of the only 20 rooms. Clean pool and garden. Family games and books available. One spa therapist available. The rooms are clean, and free drinking water is available throughout the resort.

Fantastic resort. Very luxurious and big. Great value for money!!! The food was amazing. I would highly reccommend this resort to anyone who wants to relax. The private pool is a fantastic feature. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. The room was great, bed was very comfy and a big bathroom with great shower and buthtub. The hotel is very private and there are many great places to sunbath and relax. Breakfast is served on your balcony, which makes it also very private. Wide range of possibilites to chose from. Dinner is served wherever one wants it. Overall great food. The beach is clean, one can snorkel (best at low tide) and go to the sandbank just in front of the hotel. Overall we had an outstanding stay and totally recommend staying at Matlai.

This beautiful seaside hotel is set on a large area with only 15 villas, making it a peaceful and quiet place to stay. The beach is amazing, calm, clean, and perfect for relaxation. Even though the tides change throughout the day, the sea is always beautiful, and walking along the long shoreline is a great experience. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming, always doing their best effort to meet your needs. The food was tasty and satisfying, especially the seafood.
