Esther is an excellent host who welcomes us warmly and introduces the apartment in details. Welcome drink and snacks are nice. Well-appointed and really spotless apartment with everything neatly set. Nice garden with a clean swimming pool. Greenly country view. Very quiet at night. We also visited the deer farm and my daughters liked it very much. Thank you Esther. Highly recommended. A really relaxing environment that provides all we need for our short stay.

The staff were so friendly and welcoming when we arrived. We had a delicious fresh breakfast each morning. The staff were also very helpful in recommending things for us to do. The hotel is right beside the train station. There are lots of wonderful activities to engage in in the area, lovely hiking trails and cable cars to viewpoints.

Beautifully renovated, very clean, and location is amazing! The common use of the large kitchen, living room and patio was great, we shared with a large family who occupied multiple rooms, and everyone was friendly and respectful. We loved our stay at Alte Metzg more than at other hotels on our travels!

the staff were extremely warm, kind and welcoming to us. the room was clean and comfortable, and we felt at home from the moment we checked in. the restaurant also serves delicious food. the hotel also kindly allowed us to store our baggage there overnight. highly recommend staying at this hotel!

Amazing place to stay. Allowed me to check in early which meant I could go hiking on my first day with ease! Helped with the Appenzell Travel Card. Such helpful staff, great recommendations for dinner in their sister hotel for traditional food. Excellent breakfast with really good gluten free options.

    Couldn't have been an easier check-in. I contacted Esther beforehand and asked for a slightly earlier check-in and there was no problem with that. I was greeted at the property with a warm welcome and a tray of snacks and a drink. The apartment is spotless and incredibly comfortable.
