If you are hiking Hadrians Wall, this is the place to stop or stay. Great location, great food, great ale. Staff are really friendly and one can see that they like working there. A great place to observe the stars at night and once the bar closes at night you fell remote.

The atmosphere was great, the decoration and history of the building was unique. The staff, the ambiance and the food were superb! We had such an enjoyable time, if anything not long enough to soak it all in. Having a tour after breakfast was a great extra we didn’t know was available on booking, and we learnt so much about the castle. The History leaflets made for great reading as well. The room guard is another wonderful little touch. We stayed in the Derwentwater Room (room 1), and what a room it was! Highly recommend for anyone to stay and we hope to be back to try out another room.

We stayed in the two bedroom apartment. It was big, clean, bright and had everything we need. There isn’t much parking but we got a space. Staff were great and lots of food choices for lunch and breakfast. It’s on the high street so is a great location.

Owner was my waiter on first day.On second day the waitress,Angela was very efficient & pleasant.The owner,David,provided bus timetables,suggestions on how to spend an interesting day in the area,& was very amenable,& helpful. We stayed one night we had an evening meal that was excellent. The breakfast was also amazing.. The room was comfortable and cozy. We had a great sleep on a very comfortable bed. It's a grand old hotel like going back in time. We will be back.

Wonderful b&b. Ian and Kate are very friendly hosts and made sure every part of our stay was alright. We had a delicious breakfast with lots of options. The b&b is located close to the town and close to Hadrian's wall. The room and bathroom were large and comfortable. The homemade cookies were delicious!

Bardon Mill village has a decent pub, the Bowes Hotel, which serves reasonable food at a fairly cheap price. The Twice Brewed Inn serves gastropub food of a very high quality, and the prices are good for the quality. A car is essential to reach these places. They are walkable, but the routes do not favour travel on foot, especially in the evening. There is a Sainsbury supermarket within travelling distance by car, SatNav is essential, but be prepared for several detours before reaching your destination!

Bardon mill is a gorgeous little village consisting of a cosy Inn, an incredible Victorian pottery and a fabulous village tea room. It’s located close to the upper Tyne river which is a lovely tranquil walk through the train station and across the fields. A secluded spot for watching birds and a gentle walk away from the Wall/Vindolanda etc. it’s is central for all the local Roman attractions. Bardon Mill is accessible by train but also has electric chargers right opposite the Bowes Hotel making ideal as a stop over point.

A hidden gem in a lovely location.

A hidden gem in a lovely location. Mine host are very welcoming, nothing too much trouble. Accommodation was clean and modern, only criticism would be the room is perfectly formed if a little on the small side. We had an evening meal which was delicious along with breakfast which was also delicious and substantial. Would I stay again absolutely, would I recommend definitely !

If I were to stay at the Nook again, I would just stay as a couple and use the single bedroom bathroom as the main bathroom and a dressing room.. The price is right and better than many units that only have one bedroom and bath.

Bardon Mill is a small village, but hosts a unique pottery business and has easy access to the A69, enabling you to get to Newcastle or Carlisle very easily and, of course, all the various places in between. Housesteads Roman Fort is just a few minutes drive, as is Vindolanda The area is rural, rugged and beautiful

It was a very friendly hotel, very welcoming, lovely rooms, fabulous breakfast and great Sunday diner. The Hotel was located in a lovely, quiet village of Bardon Mills, ideal for walking the middle sections of the Hadrians Wall Walk. Packed lunches were made to order.
