The facilities are first rate, the spa & leisure centre really good. Location wise it is just beautiful. In the hotel itself the staff were amazing, so kind and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. On the front desk, Grace welcomed us and easily responded to (many!) changes we needed for our family wedding group 18! Sandra managed our room needs brilliantly and even helped carry our things to the car. Given our visit was for a family wedding, we had a couple of late nights, and Darren on reception later on was really kind and happy to chat with us and helped in several ways including replacing a non working key card later on! In the Water Side restaurant the staff there were also so kind and helpful with our large family group, Octavia and (forgotten her name!) the young lady getting married in a month or two (!) were especially kind and helpful. But everyone was there too. l

Breakfast was in the dining room. More than adequate. Evening meals were also good. The beer garden overlooking the river (across the road from the hotel) was lovely. Parking was also available.

Very good pub/restaurant near the hotel which was alongside...

Very good pub/restaurant near the hotel which was alongside the Stafford Canal. Chirk centre looked very interesting with a closeby stunning aquaduct but we did not stop there, choosing to visit the NT castle.

Chirk is a sweet town. And there is the castle to visit.

Chirk is a sweet town. And there is the castle to visit. Plus the aqueduct and viaduct. A beautiful walk along the canal and aqueduct. I didn't eat out in the evenings but there are places to eat. Plus a convenience store etc.

I’ve visited Chirk on many occasions for business and...

I’ve visited Chirk on many occasions for business and leisure. The village is quieter since the building of the bypass. One feature to see is the aqueduct. Nearby Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is famous but Chirk Aquaduct is impressive too. It runs alongside the railway viaduct over a deep valley. At its north end the canal enters a tunnel.

Disappointing. Don't be taken in.

Disappointing. Don't be taken in. It's not really a castle, its a stately home and not a very interesting one at that. Only part of the 'castle' can be viewed, what can be seen is not very interesting and poorly presented and not set in context. There were no information screens, very little signage and what information there was consisted of 'this is a painting of a person you've never heard of. This is another'. At £15 per person (!) this was grossly over-priced and certainly not worth the money

Unfortunately we were returning home from one funeral to prepare for another in a couple of days so we did not have time to visit any where except the adjacent restaurant but it looked a pleasant little town with lots of local sites such as the castle and Pontcysyllte aqueduct

Had a really pleasant stay at this hotel on my way back from a business trip. The room I got was surprisingly spacious, spotless, and just what I needed to unwind. Waking up to the serene view of the canal was the cherry on top. Oh, and you've got to try the burger at their restaurant - it's a winner. Seriously, the best I've had in ages! Breakfast didn't disappoint either; it was spot on. If you're looking for a spot to recharge with some great food and peaceful views, this is the place.

Not a lot really, we were supposed to be in the Hand hotel Llangollen, but the booking.com search engine placed us here in Chirk...the room was clean, tidy but the heat overnight was horrendous,room 2..my god we had all the main pipes leading to all the rooms and a radiator, even with the window open it was awful..plus we weren't supposed to be there,which made it worse...the staff were polite and kind..but everything else wouldn't be right because of the search engines fault.

Good location, next to a garden centre, large free car park. The family room was absolutely huge with a mezzanine floor. The garden centre next door has a soft play and cafe, perfect for younger kids. Easy to find, great transport links to chirk castle, plas madoc, llangollen etc Comfortable beds, good water pressure in the shower.

Very spacious. Great design with bedroom upstairs, large comfortable king bed with skylight to see the hills and night sky. Very close to Shropshire union canal and good access to Wales.
