A very central location for exploring Scotland's Southern Highlands - easy to take in Loch Lomond , Loch Awe and Oban area and get up to GlenCoe from here. Lovely scenery on the doorstep and convenient local shops . Crianlarich is a wee village in the heart of the southern...
Crianlarich is a wee village in the heart of the southern highlands, ideally placed for hiking, especially if you are climbing Munros -- there must be 30 or more within 40 miles, and about 4 you can climb right from the village. It is very easily accessed by train and bus, although having a car gives you a lot more options. There is one small shop that seems to sell everything! Places you can visit easily from Crianlarich include Falls of Dochart, Loch Tay, Glen Lochay, Glen Lyon, Loch Lomond, Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Glen Orchy, Glen Etive.Guest review byyycyycyycCanada - 8.0
The village is small with one shop.
The village is small with one shop. The local pub serves good food. The problem I encountered was to do with the misleading mileage on the West Highland Way from Rowardennan. Beautiful area, close to many Lochs, Glens, mountains and rivers. Many natural places of interest within short driving distance. Great place for walkers and adventurers. The village of Crianlarich is a 10 minute walk, there is a pub a shop and a hotel there with a public bar. I arrived with a lot of luggage and when my check out day arrived, the chap who runs the place kindly gave me a lift to the hotel for the next part of my journey. There was free tea and coffee in the room. There was also a communal living room with a fridge if you wished to use it. The host provided a folder of information about the farm and the surrounding area. This is a working farm but we weren't woken up by any farming equipment.
