We were doing the Arran coastal way and the first 3 nights...
We were doing the Arran coastal way and the first 3 nights we stayed here. Buses were easy to get (if times a little limited on a Sunday) so we made it back in time each afternoon. Deer roam the village (don't feed them - if they get too tame they need to be culled) and there are seals in the bay. The walks in the area are good.Guest review byJuliaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Lochranza is a beautiful, quiet, scenic location for a tranquil holiday. It is very laid back and you can do as little or as much as you feel like. There is plenty to do from walking, cycling, camping, taking in the history which includes the castle. There is a distillery in lochranza that I would recommend you visit. There are a few local places where you can sit and enjoy a pint and a meal and if you are up for it stay in the bar as locals and visitors are very friendly. Lochranza is beautiful and pristine - much like all of Arran however you experience more of a wilderness vibe than you do at the larger settlements such as Brodick or Whiting Bay. Good kitchen facilities and dorm and bathrooms spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff. Just a couple of minutes from the Lochranza to Claonaig ferry and the local pub which serves meals in the evening. There is also a cafe at the ferry landing serving coffees and sandwiches. The room was comfortable, the en-suite modern and clean. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection of choices. The evening meal was equally as good as breakfast. Mac's beautifully prepared meals and Cath's hostessing skills make for a dream team. Lochranza is such a pictureque and peaceful area. My room was perfect and well located for seeing the deer, and I also really enjoyed seeing the seals and birdlife on my coastal walk.
