You could clearly see that renovation was being undertaken the front looked charming and the restaurant was very comfortable and food very good. On arrival it didn’t feel welcoming and when we highlighted a broken piece ce of furniture the attitude to it was lack lustre. The hotel is really a pub with bedrooms. There are no ground floor rooms and anyone with mobility issues is advised to steer well clear. We were unable to stay for the first of two nights due to a cock up by the hotel, and have received no refund as promised for their error. Peta the host was very friendly, helpful and kind, she made us feel really welcome. We arrived quite late in the evening but she made sure that our room was warm and cosy. Room was spacious with refreshments such as tea/coffee etc. The shower was nice, plenty of warm water, it was really great not to have to take our own toilettries such as shower gel, shampoo soap etc. Amazing bed, very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was good. We had a pleasant overnight stay, we are just sorry that we couldn't stay longer to enjoy the facilities more. Reasonable amount of food outlets. I went to a place with family which was outside Radstock to eat. It is easy to get around by car but public transport is a bit scarce. Really good food and large portions. Friendly bubbly staff. Land Lady very helpful with places to visit. Suggested bus to Bath with our bus passes bus stop really close, we caught bus so didn't have any trouble of parking. Visited Wells on Market day. Pub not far away from Cheddar or Bath. Even though they held two wakes while were staying there it didn't affect their service to locals or any other guests. We had seven persons staying (5 adults + 2 kids) whereas normally it sleeps 6 adults. The host was very accommodating. The house is a very nice family space and was excellent for making Xmas lunch and entertaining later in the day.
