We personally like the history surrounding Rottingdean - there's so much for those interested. What a charming place to spend the day.
What a charming place to spend the day. We strolled around Kiplings Garden and got to go inside a windmill! Loved the exhibition at The Grange too. A good selection of traditional pubs with amazing gardens and one with a view of the duck pond on the green. Had a dip in the Art Deco Lido at Saltdean too. I grew up in Rottingdean although haven't returned for several decades. It is still a delightful village, especially around the green and pond. A lot less the victim of too much tourism which affects Brighton itself. Easy transport connections along the coast in both directions. An exceptional hotel. From the moment you step through the doors you know that this hotel is special. That impression remains throughout the stay. The attention to detail was impressive ie the old library book called The Martlets which a fictitious bird and the symbol of Sussex. Beautiful deco bathroom and lush roll top bath in bedroom to add to luxurious feel.
