Kintamani is a little village away from the hustle and bustle of the more popular tourist areas. We did the sunrise hike at Mt Batur and it was truly an amazing experience. We went to the hot springs after our hike and it was the best to soothe our muscles after the hike. If you are looking for a quieter area with beautiful volcano views and nature, then I definitely recommend spending some time there. Highly recommend Wayan Kitchen & Bar for a delicious meal and affordable Indonesian wine.Guest review byDee - 10.0

The facilities at Mount Batur Villa are really clean and well kept. The pool is excellent with picturesque views. Flies are the biggest problem for the area but there is not much can be done about that, given the vegetation in the region. The pre-dawn trip up Mount T Batur to see the sunrise is thoroughly worthwhile, as is the Jeep trip which followed to the black lava site. Had one night out in Kintamani for a meal but other than the mountain trip there is not much to do there. Couple of days there is my recommendation.Guest review byRobUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The time period is based on the amount of activities you plan in the area. But if you just want to do hiking up the Mount Batur or only the Jeep in the sunrise - 1 night is enough of stay. Kintamani is out of the way, but the drive/sites are...
Kintamani is out of the way, but the drive/sites are incredible. We were going to hike up Mt Batur but then we would have missed other sites (due to climbing at night). However I am sure it would have been great! Most travel companies leave from Ubud not Kintamani. Recommend restful stay after the climb here. But because it is also in the middle of nowhere you cannot do anything else than enjoying the magnificent views. A small walk around the area is also very steep so you are kind of bound to the location. You can order food on the premises (small menu) for normal prices and it is cooked with only fresh ingredients, same for breakfast which was also great. But the beds were the best we had in Bali.
