Formia is a great place to visit, it has it all, beaches,...
Formia is a great place to visit, it has it all, beaches, restaurants, bars and lots and lots of history. Cisternone Romano Is a must see and only takes about 30 minutes, there are many Roman ruins and artefacts to see. The local wine shops are great and you can get fresh wine by the litre for less than €2! Olives and buffalo mozzarella are the best in the area and on sale everywhere (Itri and Gaeta make the best) the beaches are great and most have a lido bar and facilities costing around €15 to €25 for umbrella and 2 loungers for the day.Guest review byFrancoUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Great place to get the ferry to Ventotene and islands or if you want to go the beaches between there and Gaeta. Also a good stop off en route to anywhere along the coast between Rome and Naples as you also have the train station. It was easy to reach from the train station - around 5 minutes walk and was walking distance to lots of bars and restaurants. The hotel is really lovely and clean. We stayed in a huge room with a fantastic sea view and lots of antique furniture with high ceilings, really special. Marco the owner was friendly and helpful.
