Lecco is in the south part of Lake Como, but from almost all the cities that we look around the Lake, apart from Bellagio, Lecco is the most picturesque because the mountains chain in the Background. Is simply breathtaking. The city itself has nice restaurants, stores and the walk around the lake is fantastic. Is served from a Train station the reaches Milan and the airports in few times, make it easy to depart and come from overseas. Lecco in my opinion, is a nice cheaper alternative to visit...
Lecco in my opinion, is a nice cheaper alternative to visit lake Como, with just enough things to not get bored. The center of it is nice, although if you go a bit more to the outskirts its industrial and not so nice/welcoming. I've seen many villages around Como Lake and still find Lecco great - conveniently located, with everything you need. We arrived in the city during the Christmas market. We loved the romantic atmosphere around the harbour with the sun setting and the historic city centre with its beautiful Christmas decorations and great selection of romantic restaurants. I watched videos of what to do in Lecco prior to my visit. They really helped me to see and do interesting things. The place I selected to stay was right in the historic section which made that part easy, to see the historic part. That is also near the beautiful walkway along the lake. The trees give you shade and the walkway goes on and on. My partner attended a conference at the Polytechnic so he wasn't free to do things. It made no difference. In the end were happy with the room because the balconies at the front are much smaller and the street at the front is very noisy.
