We had an amazing stay at Mara Hilltop – truly one of the best experiences we’ve ever had! The view was breathtaking, and the tent was very clean, comfortable, and beautifully set up. Special thanks to Chef Allan for the delicious meals, and to Lucia and Steve who were always so helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. Our game drives were unforgettable with Ken, an excellent driver who made sure we saw the Big 5! In Nairobi, John was also a great driver who took care of us very well. One of the highlights of our trip was the nature walk with Dickson – he was such a knowledgeable and engaging guide, making it an incredible experience. A huge thank you to NJ, a very patient owner who always responded to all my queries, and to Nick, who went above and beyond to ensure our safety and comfort, even checking in with us on our way home. Everything was so wonderful that we ended up extending our stay. We highly recommend Mara Hilltop Camp to anyone visiting the Masai Mara – you will not be disappointed!

Super location with tents spaced out between private winding paths on a hill with a view. Dining area with fireplace and washroom. Tents with washroom also. Great dinner was an added bonus. This was super for a group of work colleagues visiting the park.

The staff was very welcoming, Leonard came to meet us by the main road to guide us to the guesthouse, John took us on a hike to the hill top so we could take in the Maasai Mara scenery. Edwin and Joy prepared dinner, and packed breakfast and lunch for us for the game drive. Beautiful campfire after dinner and the sound of animals in nature made it all worth it. Then the highlight of the trip was the game drive with James.

Truly Unforgettable Safari Experience at Drunken Elephant Mara From the moment we arrived, the warmth and professionalism of the staff at Drunken Elephant Mara made us feel right at home. The level of service was nothing short of exceptional, with every detail carefully tended to throughout our stay. Special thanks to Newton, whose attentive and friendly approach truly elevated our experience—his hospitality left a lasting impression! The food was absolutely delicious, with each meal perfectly prepared and presented. From hearty breakfasts to exquisite dinners under the stars, the culinary experience rivaled the best we’ve had anywhere. The camp’s environment added a thrilling layer to our adventure. With baboons and hyenas occasionally strolling through the area, it felt like we were genuinely immersed in the wild—exciting, safe, and surreal all at once. The accommodation was both comfortable and authentic, blending rustic charm with all the amenities one could hope for in a luxury safari camp. In short, Drunken Elephant Mara delivered an unforgettable slice of wilderness wrapped in comfort and care. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an adventurous yet refined escape.

An unforgettable Kenyan Adventure under Canvas! Our recent family trip to Kenya was absolutely fantastic, and a huge part of that was our incredible stay at a tented Leruk Maasai camp! With two young kids in tow, we weren't sure how they'd handle it, but this camp exceeded all expectations. Firstly, the accommodations were surprisingly luxurious. The tents were spacious and comfortable, providing a unique way to experience the Kenyan wilderness without sacrificing comfort. But the true stars of the show were the meals! Cooked by talented local chefs, the food was exceptional. Every night was a culinary adventure, bursting with fresh, flavorful dishes. John, the host, and his entire team deserve a standing ovation. Their courtesy and attentiveness were unmatched. They were always available to ensure our every need was met, making the entire stay smooth and enjoyable. One of the most memorable experiences was a guided walk led by Jacob. He took us to a nearby village, where we witnessed shepherds herding their livestock and learned about their daily routines. It was a fascinating glimpse into Kenyan culture that we wouldn't have had otherwise. The highlight of the trip, however, was the unforgettable jungle safari arranged by John himself! He personally guided us on game drives through the Masai Mara, ensuring we had the best possible wildlife viewing experience. The kids were absolutely enthralled, spotting lions, elephants, and countless other animals in their natural habitat. This trip wouldn't have been nearly as amazing without John and Jacob's dedication. They went above and beyond to make our stay truly special. Our kids especially had a blast, and that's the ultimate testament to a successful family vacation. If you're looking for an authentic Kenyan adventure with a touch of luxury, this tented camp is the perfect place to stay!

The view and the location was definitely the best, it was quiet and calm which was relaxing. The staff attended to all our needs and answered all the questions we had and made our stay very comfortable. The host organized the Safari drive and even gave us some stories about the Masai culture around the fire which we thought was a fun and interesting experience. We learnt a lot of interesting facts not only about the Masai people and their culture but about the animals too. We will definitely be back again.

I would recommend staying at Kambu Mara Camp in a heartbeat and plan to go back there every time! It is not a luxury camp, yet it's perfectly comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. It only offers a choice of beers and soft drinks, but perhaps they are open to you bringing your own? The staff are extremely flexible, helpful, warm and welcoming. And Chef Nelson offered the most delicious food of all my four visits to the Mara, staying and eating in different places. They also cater for vegans and vegetarians. Kambu Mara Camp does offer to organize safaris (they are not far from the main camp entrance), nature walks and more... Personally, I was there for the "Maasai village" experience. I would 100% recommend a visit to the village of Chief Olé Simpai. There is no set fee for visiting; you can offer whatever you feel comfortable with. They put on wonderful displays of dancing, including the jumping one, explain about their culture and show you how they make fire from two sticks!
