We came to Siem Reap because we were volunteering in a nearby village. The city is quite pleasant. We went right after the rainy season, which was great to avoid the heat and the crowds of tourists. We took a tour to Angkor Wat. We went on Saturday just before closing to see the sunset, and this allowed us to use the same ticket to enter again the next morning. Temples amazing. Well worth booking group sunrise tour to Angkor Wat due to the knowledge of the guide. Visit mine clearing rat centre (APOPO). Ten dollar entry fee well worth the money. The hotel is centrally located, just steps from the Night Market and Pub Street, but still very quiet. Public spaces and especially the pool are beautiful and inviting.
