Such a sweet Ryokan in Takayama! We stayed here for one night and loved the experience. At the check-in we were greeted by the lovely couple who runs the place. Despite speaking little English they communicated with us with kindness and were very welcoming.
The room feels authentic and traditional, with a small balcony and a view to the small river nearby. The room was clean and quiet and we had a private toilet.
The Onsen was definitely a highlight. We had it all to ourselves and loved the experience. Breakfast was early but good too (we chose the continental breakfast instead of the Japanese breakfast).
Overall, it is a wonderful place, definitely recommended!

Very artistic feel and first time experiencing living in a museum. It really gave a WOW feeling when we post the pictures in our social media. Very near to the morning markets and old street. The host gave us a very detailed explanation on the property history and the do and don’t.

The room was absolutely beautiful. We wanted a home feel for a few nights in the middle of a busy 3 week tour of Japan, just to relax and cook ourselves at home, and this was perfect. Walking distance to the old town, retro museums and train station, it was quiet and absolute bliss and the apartment itself was high end, with all fittings and furnishings absolute faultless. Would return and would highly recommend.

This was the most amazing accomodation i had in 2 weeks travelling around Japan! The house was amazingly nice, comfortable, clean. Every detail was designed with a great taste. Warm heating under the table, very sophisticated pillows wich gave me the best sleep, wooden bathroom! It is perfect. The best accomodation in Japan!

Our hosts were amazing. Apple pie to welcome us and lots of information to help us plan our stay. The rooms are warm and cozy and the hot shower was great. A nice quiet location but so close to everything meant we walked everywhere. Shared a wonderful meal out with our hosts on our last night at one of their favorite local restaurants.
