Everything about my stay was amazing - the hosts were so lovely and hospitable (made me tea and breakfast, gifted me an umbrella, drove me to the bus station in the morning), and the room was great. Way bigger than a standard Japanese inn, and the bathroom had great amenities too. I enjoyed going to the local shrine, and sitting outside the hostel to enjoy the peaceful nature. I would love to stay again.

We loved our stay in Wakka. We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. It is well located in the south part of Aso's caldeira and a good spot to explore the area if you have a car. Despite being quite deeply hidden in the nature of Aso, Wakka was quite easy to find. Instructions send ahead to find the route were clear, there was little signs showing the way and the Google Maps location was correct. The room was clean, the bed confortable and with a little terrace to go with it! The hosts were very nice and even offered us a snack for the road after check-out! If you want a very peaceful and authentic experience of Aso, surrounded by trees, i recommend you stay at Wakka!!!

We arrived quite late and Shinya was so kind to wait for us & greet us during our arrival and gave us a box of his mom homemade chiffon cake. The instruction given in the message was clear and easy for check in. The kitchen cottage was the best place for our chit chat session during our stay. We really enjoyed staying here. Its simple accomodation but comfortable. If the host wants to send you to his favorite restaurant, go for it. Its an experience. The area is beautiful. And while you are here, go for lunch at Leek. A bot to miss mom and pop place.
