We only stayed overnight but we felt safe, comfortable, and had everything we could think of. Our unit was quite large and we had a lot of room. I would definitely come back for a longer stay.

Absolutely wonderful night in Swellendam. Clean, spacious rooms. Very quiet at night - even though its next to the main road. Safe parking behind the house. Very nice host with lots of recommendations for restaurant and our further trip! Excellent breakfast on the veranda! There is also a very nice pool in the garden, which we didnt use due to cold weather, but looks lovely! Highly recommended!

The whole property is an oasis of calm and green. It was so healing to check in there after a long drive from Cape Town. Everything in this property looked well taken care of and nicely designed. It is conveniently located close to the street and is well hidden in the greenery (just a slight buzz of traffic could be heard). There are two bungalows in a big garden, each containing 4 rooms, so thought there were other guests, it didn't feel crowded at all. Rooms were very clean, spacious, nicely decorated and beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the pool very much in the heat of the day, it was clean and refreshing. The owners were extremely friendly. Chere sent me a message in the morning suggesting several dinner options in town, this was very helpful. She even booked a restaurant of our choice. Breakfast was amazing- very fresh, high quality products and very delicious. Everything felt more like a cozy home stay rather than a conventional hotel.

We enjoyed our short stay at Birdsong cottage. Its well located within a few minutes walk of several restaurants as well as the older, historical part of Swellendam. The cottage is situated within a beautiful garden. under trees and was cool in the summer heat. It also has a fire place for winter evenings. We noted that the cottage was tastefully styled and the pictures were an accurate reflection of how it looks. The king sized bed was very comfortable and had quality bed linen. Colin was a great host, friendly and informative. We would stay there again.
