Most of all the family running the guesthouse. Everyone were so kind, and helpful in any way possible. We had such a great and fun stay. We did the cooking class, highly recommended, don’t miss out. We stayed 4 days and had all our meals there. They are doing really great cooking. After 8 weeks travelling in Sri Lanka the last year, we never had anything but good experiences, but this guesthouse is now our favourite, first of all because of the genuinely warmhearted family.

The owners are very kind and helpful people. The room and the bathroom also (with hot water and basic toiletries) were very clean, there is a nice view from the room. The room comes with some tea bags, a kettle and bottled water. Kalai prepared a nice breakfast for my request, it had some additional cost, but it was more than enough. She called a tuk tuk for me to the train station too. I highly recommend this place. :-)

We had the most perfect two nights at Hapu Tales. Muni goes above and beyond as a host, and her team put so much effort into making it a relaxing and comfortable place to stay; every detail has been thought of and the team were so helpful and friendly, we really felt like we were staying with friends. We had all of our meals in and the food was brilliant, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine with lots of flavour. The location is brilliant for exploring the beautiful surrounding sites but definitely make sure you stay long enough to take the time to relax by the pool or on the terrace with the breathtaking views. We stayed two nights and were sad to leave - it’s the perfect place to recharge and relax.

The home is beautiful and very well built. It sits on a hill therefore, the view is amazing and you are immersed in nature. The family that owns and runs the home is so friendly and accomodating. We were given an amazing breakfast along with advice on our travels. I conclusion: the place and location is beautiful, the home is very clean and the food is very good but most importantly the family of this home are very friendly and make the stay extremely worth it. If you are visiting Haputale I really reccomend this place. My father and I were very satisfied with everything they had to offer including the proximity it has to the town. I can’t even begin to describe how special Glen Myu Estate is. The property offers breathtaking views of its private valley, where multiple streams converge into a hidden waterfall—a perfect spot for a refreshing dip. The house itself is beautifully designed, with expansive windows that frame stunning vistas of rolling hills, massive boulders, and ancient tree roots, making you feel completely immersed in nature. Michael and Ruwanthi were exceptional hosts. Ruwanthi’s passion for her gardens shines through in every detail, and her cooking—largely sourced from their own garden—was some of the best we had in Sri Lanka. The landscaping and pool, nestled within the wild jungle, are simply gorgeous, evoking a true Garden of Eden vibe. The bedrooms and bathrooms are stylish and supremely comfortable, offering a luxurious experience that feels effortless and unpretentious. We loved hiking, exploring, and swimming in the local waterfalls—it was an unforgettable adventure. The photos truly don’t do this place justice. A special mention goes to Ruwanthi’s incredible baking skills. On our final morning, she went above and beyond by preparing a delicious packed breakfast for our long train ride to Kandy—a gesture we’ll never forget. We can’t wait to return. Thank you for an extraordinary stay!

Amazing woman in an amazing location. The entire take is “rustic living” in Sri Lanka: boiled water for the shower with natural herbs from the garden, home cooked food over an open fire, and the best sleep you’ll get in town. I’ve stayed in many Homestay across South Asia — nothing have compared to the quality and hospitality of this. Thanks so much Gesheila :)

The homestay offers incredible views, large, comfortable rooms, and a peaceful atmosphere. But the most special part of Nilowin is the kind, helpful family who run the guesthouse and the delicious, fresh, home cooked food in an idyllic setting. Our whole family took the cooking class and learned so much about Sri Lankan food and culture. I can't recommend it enough. The local village and tea fields are beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed it all so much that we extended our stay.

Short walk to town, nice view on terrace. Really lovely hosts and really good curry for dinner. We also were able o be picked up to get to the guest house and leave our bags for free.
