I really enjoyed my stay. The owner and the staff are very nice and helpful. The owner organizes trips to the surrounding sights at fair prices. The food is delicious. There are very good storage and locking options for valuables and backpacks in the room. You can also use the pool from the hotel.

Very grateful for the warm welcome. They are super attentive to anything you need, and the treehouse is very cozy and clean. The breakfast is plentiful. They guide you with everything; it's a great place to rest after an exhausting bus trip. Thank you for everything ♥️

„One more night“ I don't even know what to say. My stay at Jungle Host was indescribable. I felt right at home from minute 1. Chooti, Diwa and Lili are a great team. Together they bring a wonderful vibe to the accommodation, which is still under construction. Sometimes something doesn't work here and there, but they always find a solution to problems quickly. The boys are super welcoming and when the work is done at lunchtime, there are usually suggestions for an excursion in the evening. If you are relaxed, then this place is pure relaxation and deceleration for you. Everything takes time here, but accepting that I was able to get much closer to the culture. I hope that others feel the same way and that two nights and "one more night" quickly turn into two and a half weeks. I will miss you very much.

When I arrived I was welcomed by the family (with 2 kids) with some nice tea. Afterwards the husband propsed to do a free scooter tour and we’ve passed some beautiful sights, including the secret lake where you had a view on both the Pidugala rock and the Lion rock. They also were helpful for tuktuk drives (paid) at any arranged hour. In the room I was the only one so I could choose a bed. The bed was comfortable and had a musquito net. There was also 1 fan in the room and the bathroom was specious en clean. In the morning I also got served some delicous breakfast. Would really recommend this place because of the location, value for money, delicious food and the hospitality of the family.

Shan is a perfect host! We took a beautiful walk at sunset and his mother has cooked us an amazing breakfast! If you pass by Sigiriya you absolutely have to stop here ;)

We stayed here as a group of friends and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The host was incredible – he ordered and organised things for us, gave us loads of tips about the local area, and even went above and beyond when my friend left her bag at a bus stop. He actually tracked it down and drove it back to us! His whole family were so kind and welcoming, which made us feel completely at home. Breakfast was amazing every morning, and the beds were huge double bunks, super comfy after a long day exploring. Honestly, the host and his family made the trip for us – such a special place to stay

We unexpectedly found ourselves in the heart of the Sri Lankan jungle at Hakuna Matata Hostel — and for just £5 a night with breakfast included. Yes, five! My teenage daughter couldn’t help but quip, “Mum, you make us look broke.” But this isn’t being broke — this is backpacking at its finest: affordable, raw, and bursting with adventure. Surrounded by towering trees, the sounds of birds, and monkeys rustling through jackfruit trees, this place is truly a hidden gem. I’ll admit, I only booked one night to test the waters, but with a perfect 10/10 rating from travellers across the globe (not just locals), I took a chance. I'm so glad I did. We had to reroute our entire trip due to heavy monsoon rains and limited accommodation options elsewhere. What began as a backup plan turned into the highlight of our journey. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and sincerity: “While you stay with us, you are part of our family.” And they meant it. No inflated tourist prices, no rehearsed smiles — just genuine people and heartfelt hospitality. The rooms are simple but clean and cosy with mosquito nets, and the atmosphere is something you can’t buy: peace, community, and a true slice of authentic Sri Lanka. We've stayed in far more expensive places on this trip, but none have matched the soul we found here. In a country where tourist traps can leave you feeling like a walking wallet, this place was refreshingly honest. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Would I come back? I extended another 3 nights. For £5 a night? It’s not about saving money — it’s about gaining perspective. This is the kind of rich that stays with you.

We had a wonderful stay at this hostel! The place is impeccably clean and well-maintained, making it feel like a home away from home. The host is incredibly friendly and helpful, always going out of his way to ensure a pleasant stay and offering great tips for local attractions. The traditional breakfast served each morning was absolutely delicious – a perfect start to the day! The hostel is located in a peaceful area, offering a calm and relaxing atmosphere, yet still close enough to everything you need. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable, welcoming, and quiet place to stay. We would definitely come back!

I had the best stay in this hostel. 🫶Kostha is really fun, kind and helpful. 😉 Also his family is very nice. You can rent a bike, use nice kitchen, chill outside and much more. Thank you for everything! 🥹🙏❤️
