I am a retired educator and currently a small business owner. I have retired 3 times from special education in public schools, but tend to start a new business every time I retire, e.g., teaching others to use technology in schools, flipping houses/real estate, and leading state-wide projects in the field of Deaf Education. I love learning, kids, my family, and helping others be successful. One of my guiding principles is to always "pay it forward" when I can. In that light, I dabble in producing musical theater, Off-Broadway, and in continuing to share my 40+ years of expertise in the field of deafness at the teacher, state, and university levels. Actual retirement seems like such a waste of time.

East Durham is an up and coming neighborhood of Durham. It is close to Duke University and hospitals, as well as to North Carolina Central University (NCCU). The property is a block from a public bus stop, if needed, and an easy drive into downtown. Durham has a rich history related to Black heritage and to the tobacco industry; a diverse food culture, from fine dining to barbeque and food trucks; and many local breweries and distilleries. Check out the Bullpen Social District in the heart of downtown. If you ever watched the 1988 movie, Bull Durham, with Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon, you have a glimpse of the semi-pro baseball culture here as well. The original stadium, from the movie, still thrives as a little league facility, and the expanded, current stadium is surrounded by restaurants, bars, galleries, and the like. Buy a ticket to the game or just watch from the patios/balconies while you dine. Prestigious Duke University is just a few miles on the other side of town, with its storied gothic chapel, Cameron Indoor Stadium (Duke Blue Devils), beautiful gardens (Sara P. Duke Botanical Garden), and it's wooded campus. On the southeast side of town is the acclaimed historically black college/university (HBCU), North Carolina Central University.
