It was a wonderful experience, coming to Mr. Hiro's house. The accommodation was clean, beautiful, traditional, the conversation with the owner was very pleasant. I slept wonderfully there. I will always return to this place in my thoughts. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. And as a bonus, there is excellent and tasty drinking water. If you are thinking about where to stay in Japan, this is the right choice. Just don't make the same mistake I did. We were only for one night. We have to come back here for at least 3 nights.

Lovely infrastructure, excellent amenities and well maintained. Loved every bit of the stay! Barbecue setup was on point. I would love to come back here again once it starts to snow. The facilities are super awesome, with free laundry, free minibar (even with alcohol!) provided. Female & Male public bath did interchange each other for evening and morning session, so we can enjoy both facilities. They even have massage chairs in the public bath area for free. Sadly if there is chance to purchase milk/ yogurt after onsen, it will be perfect! The breakfast and dinner are nice too. Breakfast is semi-buffet with quite a lot of salad & drink provided. When we mentioned one of us has certain food allergy, the manager checked in details to ensure everything is alright.

Everything was fantastic. The room, the service, the location. In fact, the service from every staff we encountered was outstanding even though they didn’t speak English. They used their phones to translate every encounter and totally made sure they got us what we needed. The rooms were very comfortable and the same floor private onsen was very comfortable and well equipped. Little touches like free Haagen Dazs ice cream just added to the entire experience. Location is also just down the road from the UNESCO Heritage Temples and Shrines of Nikkō. Beautiful tree lined road too.

The house is big with many rooms and beds. It’s a bit old. The twin hot baths are in a separate room. We could not find the light and heater in that room. These twin hot baths cannot be used after 9:30pm. The time restriction limits the number of people who can enjoy it, especially if you have BBQ which has to be finished by 9pm. The place outside the house where you have BBQ is not well decorated.
