The beautifully timbered ryokan is hundreds of years old and has been in the host Toki’s family for 11 generations. Generously sized rooms in traditional style, all spotlessly clean, the timber floors so polished you can almost see your reflection. Toki is a genial and charming host with readily offered information useful to our stay. His wife Uki is the chef. Much has been written about the quality of the meals already, but that doesn’t quite prepare you for the creativity and care poured into every one of her dishes. Even after many visits to ryokan cuisine over the years, Uki’s dishes stand as some of the best of them all. She modestly explains each dish for you, and the offerings were different each night. No overstatement to say she is a master of her craft. Overall a wonderfully warm, welcoming and delicious stay at Tamonkan.

Even before our late arrival, the kind gentleman in charge guided us patiently through everything via a messaging app—making sure we felt welcomed and informed before even stepping through the door. Upon arrival, we were amazed: the room was spotless, beautifully scented, and perfectly prepared. The view was absolutely breathtaking, and everything was designed for comfort and relaxation—an electric barbecue, a warm outdoor bath, and even a fully stocked fridge with a delicious homemade dinner and breakfast ready for us. What truly made it magical was the subtle care: the next morning, while we were away, they quietly collected the used items and restocked the fridge with a fresh dinner—like little invisible fairies making sure everything remained perfect without ever disturbing our peace. This place is perfect for anyone looking to disconnect, reconnect with nature, or enjoy a romantic escape. I still don’t know the name of the kind man who greeted us each morning with a warm smile, but I want to sincerely thank him—his presence made our stay even more special. I can only recommend R;MOGAMI with all my heart.

Soma Guesthouse mawari se encuentra en Soma, a 4,1 km de Hyakushaku Kanon y a 4,2 km de Suzumigaoka Hachiman Shrine. Hosts were generous, kind, thoughtful, funny and made me feel right at home. The kitchen had everything one needs to cook a small meal or heat up a bento. There is also a fridge and freezer. There is a lounge right by kitchen with a Japanese heating table, kotatsu, so one can socialize easily and we had meals together a couple times, which gave it a very homey and cozy atmosphere. Couldn’t have asked for nicer hosts. Thank you Koda-san!

The food was also brilliant, I also used their sauna room which was very nice too and very reasonably priced. Overall, wonderful for the price. The view from the room of the lake was unbelievable as well.
