This lovely oasis is set in the middle of a bustling city. They have preserved so much of the original building and incorporated it beautifully into the very modern hotel they've created. Nothing is ovverdone. My room was understated and comfy, the bed was great, and the large bathroom had nice little touches that other places I have stayed in do not bother with anymore. And for me, having an elevator was a treat! The breakfast buffet was a lovely spread, covering all food groups. Plus, the staff is right there to take your order for hot food if you wish. The dining area was well-lit and spacious. The staff was warm and friendly and did not roll their eyes upon learning that I did not speak Portuguese. They helped me find where I needed to go and worked out a path on the map. I thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay and wish I could have stayed longer. I felt well taken care of and would happily return!

The staff was very sweet and friendly and made us feel special. Room was big and had everything we needed. Very peaceful hotel with a great view. Breakfast was fresh, quality over quantity.

- Staff: we loved the staff, happy and pleasant people, always ready to help. Our dog was loved by all. - Dog friendly: nice to see Portugal becoming less and less anti animals and more like any place in Europe where dogs are family. The dog bed, bowls and treats were so awesome. - Spa: amazing spa, also happy with having specific times to visit to avoid children or disruptive people. A spa is to relax not to deal with other people's children. - Breakfast: amazing. Really, really good.
