When you enter, the reception/breakfast room looks like an old tavern where Aragorn might sit in a corner. The receptionist is an accommodating middle-age man with a gentle voice. Breakfast is not a buffet, but it looks like buffet was brought to your table, and in addition to the classics there are some more original options (homemade cream rice!). She is such a lovely lady! Always there for her clients. We got a nice, spacious room with a beautiful view. When we needed something we could asked Alma and her team took care of it. Also the breakfast and the food were so good! A complete buffet with fresh fruits, cheese, etc. We loved our stay and want to thank the crew for the nice stay. The castle walls on top of the hill are excellent to visit, but the experience is let down slightly by all the cars entering the castle grounds. The old town area is nice for a short visit, but not as extensive and "used" as other similar towns. Berat is know as village/ town of 1000 windows.
Berat is know as village/ town of 1000 windows. There are 2 area of the old town which are on both sides of the river. It worth just wandering the streets of both old towns. The view from the castle also gives a different perspective. A beautiful old town with so much character.
