This is too difficult to explain all my emotions and massive impression which Kumba Lodge got me. After first 5 minutes at reception area I already realised that I would stay here for not less than month. Unfortunately we only stayed at Kumba for 4 nights (booked 3 and extended for 1 extra) The most welcoming and warm communication, extremely delicious meals (highly recommend lobster and prawns), freshly squeezed juices for breakfast and breathtaking views. We booked a garden room which was quite far from wifi reception – but I can only say this digital detox was perfect for me. Anyway if you need to stay online they have stable wifi signal at reception/restaurant area. During our stay we experienced surfing and whale watching, twice watched sunrise from the pool area, explored Barra lighthouse and Tofo village. Oh yes, Kumba Lodge set up yoga/pilates classes which was also nice. I strongly recommend this place – and Tofo Beach in general – to anyone. Thanks Kumba, I will come back very soon!

ahhh we miss CosyBe so much!! from the time we booked so easy to communicate with everyone and staff was ALWAYS available -- arrival was easily arranged, but honestly Pedro and Fernando are what made this place so incredible, cannot believe this is their first time working in the field because they are STARS!!!! from giving us fresh coconuts all the time, to making little details when cleaning our room...to buying cards to play with us.... to just always greeting us with warmth and huge smiles and asking how we are!! as for the room, it was truly, SO cozy, beds SO comfy, rooms perfect with blackout curtains to keep it dark to sleep in, and so quiet around.... my friend LOVED sunning outside on the deck area, and the hammocks were also so lovely to laze in. kitchen was great though we didnt use it much note: we spent a while deciding between this and Kumba and we originally went with this bc of AC and slightly better price but we are so glad we did. Kumba is beautiful but Cosybe feels like being home with friends/family.

The owners, Paulo & Ana are phenomenal hosts, they made us feel so welcome and went out of their way to ensure we had the best stay. The location could not be better. The housekeeper, Beatrice was around all day every day cleaning and tidying which is exactly what you want on holiday. There is also round the clock security on the property. The villa is luxurious, modern, beautifully decorated and well equipped. We loved everything it.

what can I say? it is the best !!! this private house is on Tofo beach and it is simply wonderful. The owner is very nice, he leaves in Maputo but was there upon our arrival, and the location is priceless, you can sit and watch the whales passing by just in front of you. The house is very nicely decorated inside and it is equipped with everything in the kitchen, and it also has a washing machine. There is a bedroom with a double bed and another bedroom with 2 single beds, 2 bathrooms, a dining area outside and in the back yard, sofas inside and outside. A lady comes every morning to clean, there is another person if you need anything (he also cooks on the barbecue and can provide fish) and a guard for the night, even if the area is very quiet. The market is steps away from the house and if you need more, the yum yum supermarket is 5min by car, where you find anything you need. Wifi works very well. Next to the house there are 2 places where you can have massage at any time of the day. If you did not book in advance, the person in charge of the house arranges for tours but there are also the agencies in the village. There are many restaurants, always at walking distance. It is impossible not to fall in love with this place

Beautiful eco lodge on top of the sand dunes north of Tofo. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very spacious, each with a terrace overlooking the ocean. We were visiting during the whale migration and we’re lucky to see whales breaching from our rooms or while taking our meals. Sonette, her husband and the team are very friendly and always happy to help (eg organising tours). The food was also delicious. Highly recommend - it is a special place!

Location, Location, Location! The beach is just a few metres away, allowing you to jump into the Indian Ocean whenever you like without the hassles that occur once you are even just a few hundred metres away. It's ideal for children: a shallow entrance and smooth waves. Special thanks to Wanette and Shawn, the managers of the lodge. Everything was expertly managed plus their advice and support in booking activities in the area was invaluable. From snorkelling to see seahorses and hundreds of sea stars, to collecting pansy shells or doing a quad-bike tour into the area or going whale shark viewing. I can highly recommend venturing out. The chalets themselves are not new but well maintained. We bought fresh Portuguese rolls from the locals every morning and also amazing tiger prawns for the braai. They were very friendly and I recommend supporting them. Alternatively there are two restaurant options in walking distance just along the beach. Green Turtle is pricey/upmarket, but don't we all need some spoils during our vacation? Overall we had a great time in Barra!

Amazing place if you love nature and wild lonely places. The hotel structure consists of buildings placed on stilts connected by raised platforms and even a tibetan bridge A very nice reception with sofas and restaurant with a wonderful view on bush, palm trees, dunes and ocean. The food is aboundant and very good based on local fresh ingridients. The staff is increadibly kind. Attention to enviroment, for example filtered water is avalilable any time to avoid plastic bottles. Farther into the bush a small outdoor swiming pool with some sun beds next to a bungalow with some very confotable sofas and big windows. A good place to stay in case of strong wind. Rooms have a palm leves roof. Very comfortable large beds with mosquito net. The shower is outside and hot water is available moring and evening. The beach is wonderful, large, wild, nobody there. Bicycles and canoes are provided free of charge.

From Jhb, the more reliable consistent commercial flights are to Vilanculos. Even though the road to Inhambane is on the countries main road, it is single lane and a few hours of travel, although so worth it when one arrives in Inhambane

The vibe of the place is amazing, the people are super friendly and there are a lot of nice places to eat. Overall it's a small beach town and I quite liked it. I also did a couple of days of diving with Liquid Diving, which was very nice as well.

When visiting Inhambane be sure to visit Guinjata bay for scuba diving and beautiful empty beaches. Tofo is also interesting for day trips to explore the local islands by sail boat which also supports the local population. It has a little market by the beach with many nice restaurants which is very popular with tourists.

Praia do Tofo itself is Paradise.

Praia do Tofo itself is Paradise. However, avoid using LAM to travel at all costs. On our trip there one of our bags was simply left in Johanneburg and only reached us 3 days later. On our trip back, our flight was delayed for 18 hours and then cancelled with no indication of when a flight will be available. We had to charter a bus to get to Maputo to ensure we were home for Christmas. In both cases, LAM was extremely unhelpful. No information could be provided. Not even an apology was offered. To date we have not been able to secure a refund for the cancelled flight.

Is a very nice small town, unfortunately, as many others in Mozambique, poorly maintained. A hurricane, a few years ago, created lots of damage, and some of it was not repaired. But if you are heading to Tofo or Tofinho, for its beaches, a tour of Inhambane is certainly deserved.
