Set in Yasugi, 26 km from Mizuki Shigeru Road, Shokinkan offers rooms with air conditioning and free WiFi. The property is situated 26 km from Lake Shinji, 27 km from Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum and 24 km from Matsue Station. Shimane Art Museum is 26 km from the ryokan. This is a traditional ryokan which has great food and really lovely staff. We were so well taken care of. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and varied on each of the 3 days that we stayed. Our room was spacious and had a delightful sitting area. The location within the temple grounds was beautiful. We were picked up and dropped back at Yasugi train station, as well as the Adachi museum. Highly recommended.

Located near Atagoyama Park and Hirata Honjin Memorial Museum, Nipponia Izumo Hirata Cotton Road is in Izumo and provides free private parking and a restaurant. Featuring a garden, the 3-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. Gakuen-ji Temple is 11 km away and Hamayama Park is 15 km from the ryokan. Having been to Izumo before and knowing it would not disappoint, I decided to take my family for another vacation in January. We stayed at Nipponia Izumo - Hirata Cotton Road for three nights. It is a former traditional sake brewery house converted into a kominka style hotel. Situated on a quiet historical sake and soy sauce business street, the hotel not only provided a unique home sweet home service but also amazing fine dining experience. Their in-house chef made each meal using local products to create feasts that delighted the senses. I highly recommend this hidden gem of an accommodation if you do visit Izumo.

Situated in Gotsu, in a historic building, 13 km from Gotsu City General Citizen Center Milky Way Hall, Ryokan Nushiya is a ryokan with an open-air bath and garden. Boasting a lift, this property also welcomes guests with a traditional restaurant and a terrace. The ryokan also features free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests.

The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. This was our fourth trip to Japan and we've stayed in many ryokans. This is one of our favorites. The space we stayed at was huge. It was a two-story stand alone building. The seats looked out onto the courtyard with a pond and a lot of trees, which was very peaceful. I'm usually not the type to stay in my hotel/ryokan all day, but this place tempted me to do so due to the serenity of the courtyard. There were two private onsen that were easy to access due to the small number of guests that stay here. The food was fabulous. While walking around one morning I found a hiking trail that led up to castle ruins. The next morning I hiked up to the ruins and down the other side and came out near the Moss Land.

The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. The staff were very helpful and pleasant, the food was among the best food we had on our entire japan trip. We traveled with one vegetarian and they were able to make great vegetarian food as well which we really appreciated! The inn was cozy and well managed and we had everything we needed. The location by the river and so close to Matsue Castle was also amazing. We can recommend this inn and Matsue city to everyone interested in seeing a different japan!

At the ryokan, units have a tatami. Complete with a shared bathroom fitted with slippers, all units at the ryokan have a flat-screen TV and air conditioning, and certain rooms are equipped with a terrace. At the ryokan, each unit includes bed linen and towels. Ryokan Koyokan Is a rare find set in an amazing forest location alongside the Kiyomizu-dera temple. We loved the absolute peace and quiet after a few hectic days in some of Japan’s big cities. The Ryokan is run by three generations of the same family, with the first member of the fourth generation a recent addition. Food is an amazing combination of mainly vegetarian dishes with some fish. Nearest railway station is at Yasugi from where you can get a taxi. We opted though to hire a car at Matsue Station for the half hour drive, this also meant easy travel to the nearby Adachi Museum of Art. Definitely recommend Koyokan for a relaxing experience in an amazing location.

It is located 27 km from Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum and provides room service. The ryokan has parking on-site, a hot spring bath and a 24-hour front desk. We were so looked after from the moment we arrived to when we departed. We chose to stay here to have our last night in Japan to be in the most extraordinary setting and to have access to the Adachi Museum. The room was stunningly beautiful, comfortable and we loved the private onsen. The amenities provided were great too. All of our meals, dinner and breakfast, were a delight to the taste buds as well as visually pleasing.
